“I have been working with Dr. Dave for several years. I am a weekend warrior when it comes to activities. I play golf, pickle ball, lift weights, and cycle long distances. Dave helped me work through numerous joint issues including elbow, shoulder, hips and low back pain.

I just turned 60 and thanks to Dr. Dave I have no issues that get into my way regarding the activities I like to do. I feel great thanks to Dr. Dave’s ability to diagnose the origin of pain / tightness and put together a physical therapy plan and stretching routine. Dr. Dave is the best physical therapist I have ever worked with and I highly recommend him!”

Chris Y.

“I worked with Dr. Dave after suffering an ankle sprain and and adductor strain. For both injuries, Dr. Dave took the time to assess and test the extent of the injury. Most importantly, Dr. Dave provided a clear and comprehensive plan to begin the recovery process.

We worked on exercises to heal and strengthen both injuries immediately. Dr. Dave took the time to explain the benefit of each exercise and I walked away from those sessions with the knowledge I needed to continue to build strength and reduce my risk for re-injury. I was back to playing soccer in half the time it would normally take. Dr. Dave was knowledgeable, friendly and professional and I definitely recommend him.

Movement Check Up

You go to the dentist every 6 months or a year to make sure your teeth are healthy, and to your primary care physician for a physical to get your blood pressure taken and to make sure your systems are functioning as they should but what about a check up for the way you move? This is a 30 minute session where I take you through a movement screen, postural inspection and exam of your body joint by joint. The purpose of the movement check up is injury prevention, a chance to go over any aches and pains you may have and to make sure you’re moving in a way that will optimize your performance and the way you carry out your activities of daily living.

Titlist Performance Institute

Dr. Dave Garaffa is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). The initial TPI screen consists of a 16 point checklist. This will help to determine the body swing connection. This is the link between physical characteristics and how they affect your swing. This connection gives us a golf fitness handicap.

Once the golf fitness handicap is determined, a plan will be put into place in the form of exercises, manual treatment and drills to help you play pain free.

For example, if a player has difficulty touching their toes this could translate into early extension, too much knee flexion or loss of posture through the swing. These swing characteristics could affect the player by shortening their backswing, causing blocks right, hooks to the left or contributing to low back pain.

There are several potential causes to why a player can’t touch their toes - lumbar segmental hypomobility, hamstring flexibility limitations, lumbar fascia stiffness. Dr. Dave will determine the root cause contributing to the dysfunction in the screen and set the course of action on how to improve it.
